A scraper is a versatile tool with one or a number of sharp edges that will come in handy for myriads of household, DIY, and construction application purposes, including scarping off paint, cleaning tiles, spreading plaster, glazing, removing gaskets, and much more. We offer a great selection of these hand tools used to scrape various kinds of surfaces. This category includes a whole range of tools from paint scrapers and putty knives to razor blade and gasket scrapers.
Whichever kind of scraper you need, it will definitely feature a flat metal or hard plastic blade mounted on a handle. What is however different for each specific tool is its length that usually ranges from 5" to more than 15", the tool’s overall weight, thickness, stiffness, and size of the blade ranging from 1" to 3/4". Blade edges also vary, being sharper or blunter. The flexibility and sharpness of scraper blades make this tool ideal for smoothing the surfaces by removing thin shavings of material. Ergonomic anti-slip handles provide additional comfort and reduce wrist strain.
A paint scraper features flat stainless steel blade and is used to remove wallpaper, scrape off old paint, and smoothen tricky wood surfaces. A flexible blade of a scraper is positioned at shallow angle to the target surface and can thus peel off the material as the blade is advanced. A putty knife is a specialized tool that is irreplaceable when it comes to spreading materials in an even layer or performing accurate scarping. The blade widths from 1 1/4" up to 6" are widely used. Stiff blades (0.40" thick) are preferable for light-duty scraping jobs, while flexible (0.20" thick) blades are perfectly suited for spreading purposes.
Razor-end scrapers with retractable blades are compact tools good for light-duty scraping of hard surfaces. However, if you have challenging heavy-duty scarping tasks in mind, then angled hook and gasket scrapers are probably the right tools for you. The hook scraper features an extended handle that provides extra leverage to be put on the blade. The reversible blade is mounted on the end of the handle at almost 90 degree angle, allowing the tool to cope with the trickiest scraping tasks. The gasket scraper with its 30 degree-angled blade is engineered for removing gaskets, carbon build-up, and sealing.
